About Us
We aim to provide support for new parents/carers and make long lives friendships within our families. We spread awareness and raise money for our families. This can be providing courses that will benefit parents and carers. Or group get-togethers such as bowling, parties and UK holidays. This keeps our support system strong and beautiful friendships develop throughout the years, that last a lifetime.
We are here for you from the moment you get a diagnosis of Down Syndrome. Our committee members have always been parents/carers of babies with Down Syndrome, we have lots of experience and wisdom to share with new families.
Our group started over 10 years ago formally known as Cumbria Down's Syndrome Support Group. It began with a few parents who turned a simple coffee and play date in to this amazing support group with over 50 families. It is our honour to keep their legacy alive and continue to support families in Carlisle and Eden.

What is Down Syndrome?
Down Syndrome is a condition in which a baby is born with an extra chromosome 21. The extra chromosome is associated with delays in the child's mental and physical development, as well as an increased risk for health problems. People with Down Syndrome live fulfilled and independent lives.
People with have similar features, such as a flat face profile, an upward slant to the eyes, small ears and a tongue that tends to stick out.
Your baby will be smaller than a typical baby and may have low muscle tone. Most importantly, your baby will be so loved and capable of achieving anything anyone else can with the right support.

Our Vision
Living with Down Syndrome has drastically changed for the better in society. People with Down Syndrome have better health checks, support and acceptance. Your life will be bigger and filled with happiness. Some days will be harder than other. Here at Down Right Worthy, we are here on the bad and good days.
We will support you in all sectors of your life. Health needs, emotional support and support for siblings who play a wonderful part in our group .
Our vision is to make a safe space for families to come to for acceptance and support, while having fun at the same time.
